The Kankakee County CEO Program Board & Mentor Appreciation Breakfast was held on Friday, May 1, as students gathered to recognize and thank the dedicated mentors and board members who have invested their time, knowledge, and encouragement into this year’s program.

Leading up to the event, students were challenged to think beyond simply attending a breakfast. They explored the many details involved in hosting a professional event, including inviting guests, reviewing dining etiquette, setting tables properly, organizing logistics, and managing cleanup responsibilities. These hands-on experiences reinforced the importance of professionalism, hospitality, communication, and attention to detail in both business and leadership settings.

During the breakfast, students recognized the mentors and board members who helped guide and support the 2025–2026 CEO class throughout the school year. Their willingness to share expertise, encourage growth, and invest in young entrepreneurs has made a lasting impact on our students and program.

We proudly recognize and appreciate our mentors:
Kendra Saulter Crite, Eros & Ember Candles and Gifts
Mike O'Brien, Midland States Bank
David Parker, Kankakee Area YMCA
Henry Peddinghaus, Peddinghaus Corporation
Nina Piolatto, Downtown Kankakee
Beth Scanlon, Scanlon Excavating & Concrete, Inc.
Hannah Swale, Economic Alliance of Kankakee County

We also recognize and thank our Board of Directors:
John Keigher
Angela Morrey
Mike O'Brien
Warren Ouwenga
Beth Scanlon
Ronnie Wilcox
Nicole Smolkovich
Mia Hansen

A special thank you to Asbury United Methodist Church for allowing our program to use the conference room as a meeting location throughout the term, and for hosting us in the beautiful Holy Grounds space for this appreciation breakfast. Your continued support of our students and community programming is deeply appreciated.
