Leadership and Excellence at St. Mary's Hospital

From career journeys to nationally recognized patient care, our recent visit to St. Mary's Hospital gave Kankakee County CEO students a firsthand look at leadership in the healthcare industry.

CEO Patrick Kerrwood and members of his leadership team shared their professional experiences, insights into healthcare leadership, and the importance of quality, safety, and service.

Students learned about the hospital's recent national recognition, including being named to Forbes' 2026 Top Hospitals list, receiving consecutive "A" safety grades from The Leapfrog Group, and earning recognition from Healthgrades and Becker's Healthcare.

Throughout the visit, the leadership team emphasized the importance of teamwork, compassionate service, and putting people first, lessons that extend well beyond the healthcare industry.
