Reflecting on Legal Insights: CEO Class Explores Business Law Fundamentals with Dave Baron

What is an LLC? How can a corporation be a person? What should a young entrepreneur know about business law? Today, Kankakee County CEO students visited Deck and Baron Attorneys at Law, a longstanding legal institution in downtown Kankakee to learn more about these questions and more. Founded over half a century ago, the firm is renowned for its expertise and deep roots within the community. Dave Baron, a partner at the firm alongside his father, Dennis Baron, and Gregory Deck, graciously hosted the students for an insightful session.

During the visit, CEO students engaged in discussions covering a spectrum of legal topics, including business law fundamentals as well as career pathways within the legal profession. From nuanced insights into corporate structures like LLCs and S-Corps to discussions on intellectual property rights and contractual agreements, the students gained invaluable insights into the legal intricacies relevant to their entrepreneurial goals. Baron's expertise and commitment to community-building left a lasting impression on the students, providing them with a deeper understanding of the legal landscape when it comes to business and entrepreneurship.

A graduate of Harvard Law School, Kankakee native David Baron's academic journey began at St. Pat's, then Bishop McNamara High School to Notre Dame for his undergraduate studies before pursuing a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law. After earning his degrees Baron returned to the Midwest and practiced law at the prestigious Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago before returning to his hometown to continue his legal career. Now a partner at Deck and Baron Law Firm, Baron has since been actively involved in both legal practice and community service, serving on various boards and holding the elected position of Alderman for Kankakee's 2nd Ward.
